Pulsara Around the World - 2022 Recap and January 2023

Pulsara Around the World - 2022 Recap and January 2023

November & December Recap

Is it just us, or does time seem to move faster the closer we get to the new year? We haven't let all of the delicious holiday foods slow us down or put us into hibernation mode. Throughout November and December, we exhibited at six trade shows across the United States, with Pulsara's Senior Vice President - Strategic Initiatives, Joey Branton, presenting a session during IAEM's Annual Conference & EMEX.

Pulsara's CS Specialist - U.S. West, Cara McCoy, moderated the webinar 'Overhauling a Trauma System of Care.' Hosted by the American Trauma Society, the webinar focused on improving patient care by streamlining communication and coordination between EMS and hospital teams.

Kate Leatherby, Pulsara's VP Sales, West, joined the Becker's Healthcare podcast to discuss how health systems improve patient care with Pulsara

Rounding out December, we announced two new integrations that save time, improve patient care, and eliminate dual data entry:

2022 | A Year in review

Pulsara In the News
We made quite a splash this year as health systems across the U.S. celebrated the adoption of our platform and put new functionalities to the test!

  • Hospitals in Arkansas leveraged Pulsara to streamline the patient transfer process and load balance resources across the state.
  • LewisGale Hospital Montgomery's use of Pulsara to create clearer lines of communication between team members led to a record 14-minute door-to-balloon time for one of their STEMI patients.
  • Weslaco EMS & Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX, adopted Pulsara to facilitate better communication between EMTs, paramedics, and hospital staff.
  • Similar to health systems in Weslaco, TX, Catholic Health in Buffalo, NY, implemented Pulsara to save time and streamline communications between EMTs and the emergency room.
  • Pulsara's Incident Management Functionality was put to the test during a full-scale crisis exercise by the FAA at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. During a simulation where multiple agencies responded to a drill scenario involving a rental truck colliding with a plane, first responders and city agencies used Pulsara's Incident Management functionality to enter patient information, communicate, and coordinate care.

New Releases
Our development team spent 2022 working on several new exciting features and patient types.

  • ED Availability gives EMS teams insights into which facilities have the resources to accept a patient, while hospitals can provide status updates such as "CT down" or "No ICU bed availability."

  • To save time with manual data entry, Pulsara's Driver's License Scanning feature populates the patient's name, age, DOB, and gender into the patient channel after scanning the back of any US driver's license.

Webinars

Case Studies

  • Teams at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, WA, discovered the power of having a single communication channel for each patient. In addition to streamlining communications, they reduced their average door-to-needle time for tPA patients by 31%.
  • Austin-Travis County EMS leveraged Pulsara's telehealth and communication technology for their C4 unit (Collaborative Care Communication Center), eliminating 434 unnecessary transports by rerouting low-acuity patients to more appropriate care.

  • A British Medical Journal real-world feasibility study analyzed the effects of Pulsara on care team communications and acute stroke and STEMI patient treatment times, finding that Pulsara enhances the emergency management of patients across multiple conditions.

Published works with EMS1

  • Earlier this year, Pulsara released the eBook Closing the Gaps. In partnership with EMS1, the eBook includes input from EMS professionals on subjects that can help improve clinical practice and save money for EMS organizations.

  • Sponsored by Pulsara and produced in collaboration between EMS1, Fitch & Associates, the EMS Survey Team, and NEMSMA, the 2022 EMS Trend Report examined the results of the survey sent out early in 2022 and included interpretations from several EMS experts and leaders.

Awards and Recognition

  • We might be biased, but Pulsara is a great place to work! We're not the only ones who think so. There's a reason why The Tech Tribune continuously— for four years running—recognizes Pulsara as one of the Best Tech Startups in Bozeman and Montana.
