Pulsara Version 4.5: A (Stroke) VITAL Update [Press Release]

Pulsara has added several new features to better enable stroke care teams to build regional systems of care.

--

Bozeman, MT - May 17th, 2016 - With the addition of Stroke Vitals to the Pulsara platform in 4.5, EMS Agencies and Hospitals can now truly build a regional system of care for stroke patients.

"You can solve your region’s LVO (Large Vessel Occlusion) problem, identify which patients need endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke and QUICKLY get the right patients to the right treatment," said James Woodson, Pulsara Founder and CEO.

Highlights for all users include:

  • Stroke Scores - Medics and hospital team members can now add RACE, LAMS, Cincinnati/FAST, NIHSS and other scores in their prehospital transmission.
  • Anticoagulants - Is the patient taking anticoagulants? Good question. Now everybody on the team will know the answer.
  • Labs - Communicate values for key labs like Glucose, Hemoglobin, Lactate, etc.
  • NIHSS Improvements - Now you can see a history of NIHSS and how the score trends over time.

Other updates include improved image uploads. On both iOS and Android, images are uploaded to the Pulsara platform, even if the Pulsara app is not “active” on a user's phone screen. Prior to this change, quickly tapping the home or power button after starting a case with images attached could cancel the image upload. Now, images are reliably uploaded, even when a phone is locked.

Additionally, Pulsara has moved Free Text to the top of the list for Team Messaging - above preconfigured templates - for quicker and easier access.

EULA and Privacy Policy screens have been moved out of the initial app signup process. Users will be notified of License Agreement and Privacy Policy changes via emails (like this one), and the full policies are posted on Pulsara's website.

Pulsara has also been working on refreshing the alert sirens, based on user feedback. "Getting the Pulsara primary alert sound 'right' has been an immense challenge, and one of the more interesting UX research opportunities we’ve ever faced. Some users like the current siren, and want it to be even louder and more obnoxious. Some would rather have the sound of ocean waves lapping on crystal sand beaches," said Erich Hannan, VP of Development.

"We tried to balance the push/pull between creating a sense of urgency for the time critical cases, and contributing to the alarm fatigue that users may feel on a daily basis. Users know what is best for themselves and their patients, and we are putting the control into their hands. The next release of the Pulsara mobile applications will provide the ability for users to select from a menu of sound options for primary alerts."

Finally, Pulsara is excited to announce the hire of a new Client Experience Specialist, Wes GilbertWes's experience and passions for technology and healthcare perfectly position him to excel in his role of Client Experience Specialist, and the company is happy to have him on board and ready to assist clients with anything they may need.

NOTES:

IMPORTANT! An upgrade to the 4.5 mobile app version is required. One week after releasing 4.5, you'll be required to upgrade before you can login or PIN into the app again.

The Pulsara platform and web applications are regularly updated behind the scenes by Pulsara's dev engineers. The new update is automatically loaded in your browser the next time you login.

  • As always, your same login/password will continue to work.
  • If you use Android, or have enabled iOS to automatically update apps, then the Pulsara 4.5 versions will be automatically downloaded and upgraded on your phone or tablet.
