Bozeman, MT -- Pulsara announced last week the release of their app version 5.4. The company began the announcement by reminding readers of their purpose statement: "Our purpose [is] to improve the lives of patients and caregivers through innovative communication. We care about patient outcomes. Equally, we care about you and the burden you carry as a clinician. Our goal is to simplify your workflows during time-sensitive emergencies. While we're really good at what we do, you're even better at your job. That's why this update is packed full of features requested by you ... the end user."

The 5.4 app version includes key mobile features such as the ability to add vital signs to all STEMI and stroke activations, and lab values to all STEMI activations. The General Patient package included labs and vital signs before this update. Pulsara has also made all interfaces for creating cases and entering patient information more standardized and consistent.

The company announced that based on user feedback, the team and alerts screen has been changed to add a legend at the bottom of the screen for faster recognition of icons, which were also updated:

Pulsara said that if an EMS agency is transporting a patient to a receiving facility that uses the Pulsara STEMI or Stroke package, anybody at the hospital can now activate the case. Previously only the RN user(s) Responsible for EMS could activate a case.

The company announced changes intended to clean up the STEMI screens including removal of the old STEMI transfer feature which will be replaced by an improved version. Furthermore, the "Patient Cardiologist" field has been removed due to low usage by clinicians and a desire to simplify the user experience. Pulsara also removed "Cath Lab" group for "Hospital Team" user, which was only used for STEMI Transfer scenarios, which are now obsolete.

Pulsara revealed a new, sleeker Android pin screen in version 5.4.

The company also announced that since the creation of their Pulsara Facebook page, it has grown to nearly 32,000 Likes. Pulsara also encourages users to follow their Twitter and LinkedIn accounts for updates and industry relevant content.

Pulsara highlighted their most recent hire, senior software engineer, Eric Barnes, saying the following:

"Eric is a senior software engineer with a passion for all things programming. His love for computers started in grade school with the iconic Commodore 64 (that was highlighted in great shows like McGyver, Airwolf and Police Academy) and Apple IIe. What 80's kid never played Oregon Trail during study hall?!?

As a child, he taught himself BASIC to make adventure games in order to impress his friends. And it worked, he has LOT of friends.

When not writing code and connecting to the Twittersphere, Eric is playing guitar or out hiking in the beautiful Montana wilderness. Haven't been to Big Sky Country? Take a look at some of Eric's amazing Montana photography.

Oh, by the way, we are always looking for awesome people to join our team. Learn more about joining our team!"

Pulsara issued an important notice that an upgrade to the 5.4 mobile app version is required and that two weeks after the release of 5.4, users will be required to upgrade before they can login or PIN into the app again. Other reminders included:
  • As always, your same login/password will continue to work.
  • If you use Android, or have enabled iOS to automatically update apps, then the Pulsara 5.4 versions will be automatically downloaded and upgraded on your phone or tablet.
  • HINT, HINT … we highly recommend enabling iOS to automatically update your apps. It’s SO much easier.
  • Apple recently stopped supporting iPhone software version, iOS 7, and the Android community stopped supporting security updates for Android OS versions earlier than 4.4.
  • Going forward, we will no longer be pushing any security or feature updates to unsupported mobile versions. Upgrading your operating system will make it more secure and safe for everyday use and also make the device able to accept important future updates.
