Pulsara's 4.0 Release Includes HIPAA Compliant Messaging [Press Release]

Pulsara's 4.0 Release Includes HIPAA Compliant Messaging [Press Release]

Bozeman, MT - May 26th, 2015 - Pulsara has just released their "Biggest, most robust release yet" and are anticipating an improved user experience and case times that are even faster than before. "We are psyched about the Pulsara 4.0 upgrade. You’ll see the complete overhaul of the look and feel with improved workflow to make your job simpler. AND, we built this all while keeping the stuff that made Pulsara awesome in the first place," said Vice President of Development Erich Hannan.

According to Hannan, "The biggest feature is the introduction of Team Messaging for clinical communications. All members of the patient care team will now have the ability to communicate with each other about the case." With the new team messaging feature, the entire care team including EMS and clinicians at transferring hospitals are able to communicate quickly and securly right from within the app.

Administrative users of Pulsara will be able to set up and implement custom messaging templates specific their facility and healthcare system. "Centering the conversation around a patient - where everybody on the team can see every message sent - keeps communication short, to the point, and appropriate," said Kris Kaull, Chief Marketing Officer at Pulsara.

According to Pulsara, the messaging feature was designed for EMS users as well. Medics who initiate the case can view all messages about their patient, even after the case is complete. And, they’ll get notified for every message added about their patient up until the Door Time is set.

Other updates to templates for messaging include:

  1. The template text for a given patient will never change again. Users can effectively think of this as a copy of the template (but Pulsara has clever ways of handling this efficiently under the hood).
  2. Users can safely edit and change templates without affecting the messages in a conversation for an existing patient. Only new messages will use the new templates going forward.
  3. All users who are associated to the patient record, or who can view the patient record - including EMS - can see all messages in the conversation. Even if they can’t use a particular template, they can see messages that used the template.
  4. Further, EMS can select templates that:
    • Have been marked as EMS Selectable by the destination hospital, or
    • Are EMS Agency specific templates created by their EMS Admin

The company has also listed the following as the highlights that come with version 4.0 for all users:

  • HIPAA-compliant Messaging:  Pulsara now includes the addition of Team Messaging for clinical communications.
  • Updated Look: New, unified, consistent, scalable UI Framework for a fully integrated Pulsara experience.
  • Alerts Take you Directly to Case:  One tap on GO and you're there.
  • New Navigation Menu: The new menu is always available to navigate from one area to another with a tap.
  • New Patient Flow: Streamlines patient creation for EMS and anybody who creates patients.
  • Recent Patient List: Have multiple patients? No problem. Quickly jump between multiple active patients.
  • New Visual Cues: Mandatory fields are clearly identified.
  • Get the full picture: Now, all users can view inbound EMS cases. (But don't worry, activating the critical care team is still handled by your designated team member.)

One of Pulsara's goals is to constantly try to improve the speed and ease at which users, especially EMS, can create a new patient. In 4.0, there is a unified workflow for new patient creation that walks you through the steps required, illustrated below:

  1. You can start a new case from the home screen or from the new Navigation Drawer.
  2. Second tap selects what type of case.
  3. Thirdly, you select the Method of Arrival which takes you to the New Patient screen.
  4. Only a few fields are required to initiate the case. Now those fields are clearly marked.

James Woodson, Pulsara CEO and Founder, said "Pulsara 4.0 is a direct response to your most requested features and feedback on how we can improve your workflow during those critical times. Thank you again to all users for being part of the Pulsara Team. Your commitment to better patient care and process improvement is what inspires us."

IMPORTANT NOTES

Support for the current 3.2 and 3.3 versions of the Pulsara mobile app will be removed within 48 hours of the new release. Because 4.0 adds support for Team Messaging, all users need to upgrade to the new version to view messages from their team members.

Version 4.0 of Pulsara will be pushed out on Tuesday (May 26th) to the Apple iTunes and Google Play app stores. As always, users' same login/password will continue to work.

After Pulsara 4.0 is released in the app stores, the company will disable support for 3.2 and 3.3 versions of the mobile apps within 48 hours.

If you use Android, or have enabled iOS to automatically update apps, then Pulsara 4.0 will be automatically downloaded and upgraded on your phone or tablet.

SUPPORT FOR iOS 6 HAS BEEN DROPPED. Users who have logged in on iOS 6 have already been contacted by the Pulsara support team and provided steps to upgrade iOS.
