Pulsara version 11.0: Three Game Changers for EMS

Pulsara version 11.0: Three Game Changers for EMS

September 2, 2020 - Bozeman, Montana - Pulsara recently announced the release of app version 11.0. Full release notes are as follows.

--

Hello!

Pulsara app version 11.0 is now available. This release provides some game changing enhancements for EMS crews who work hard to assess patients and rapidly make transport decisions.

We’ll be sending full release notes to everyone shortly. Here’s what’s included in this major release:

  • EMS can now optionally choose the most appropriate destination, after creating the Patient Channel.
  • EMS can consult with medical control or a supervisor for enhanced patient care.
  • Any connected EMS agency can hand off patients in the field, whether that’s First Responder to a Transport Crew or Ground EMS to an Air Medical Team.

For the first time ever, EMS entities can share patient data and communicate seamlessly along the entire patient journey! Amazing!

  • Most of these features will not forcibly change your existing workflow.
  • Handoff, Consult, and creating a Patient Channel without a destination must all be enabled by Pulsara customer service.
  • All EMS crews will see two minor layout changes to improve patient creation workflow.

11.0 ENHANCES AND EXPANDS EMS WORKFLOW

EMS may not know the destination when the Patient Channel is initially created. To reflect this, the destination field now appears at the bottom of the EMS new patient screen.

Patient information can now be collected before selecting a destination, better matching how EMS crews do their job.

If the EMS agency has a Handoff or Consult relationship established, then the destination field will not be required, allowing EMS to create a Patient Channel and delay the decision about which destination to choose.

Existing

Pulsara 10.15: The destination field appeared at the top of the screen and was always required, limiting EMS workflow capabilities.

New

Pulsara 11.0 - The destination is required when no Handoff or Consult relationships are established.

New

Pulsara 11.0: When relationships are established, the destination becomes optional during patient creation.

EMS HANDOFF

Link up with EMS agencies to hand off your patient details in Pulsara. For example, First Responders can choose to hand off to EMS before or after a destination is selected. This supports better continuity of care as the entire flow of patient care remains in Pulsara as the patient moves through their journey.

EMS can later select a destination using the Transport button. Pulsara 11.0 supports in person hand offs between different EMS agencies.

The EMS Handoff feature enables several common patient scenarios, such as: First Responder handing off to EMS, ground crews handing off to Flight, and vice versa.

For more details, see this article about EMS Handoff.

EMS CAN CONSULT WITH MEDICAL CONTROL AND MOCC

EMS can consult with Med Control, a supervisor, or anyone else available for consult to assist in clinical decision making.

EMS can determine the appropriate destination for each patient, even patients receiving treatment without transport.

EMS Handoff and Consult require inter-organizational relationships to be established.  Please contact Pulsara customer service at help@pulsara.com to get started.

Pulsara 11.0 Now Officially Requires iOS 11 or Later

This Pulsara update officially removes support for iOS 10. Our developers love to stay current with the latest Apple offers and iOS 10 is already almost four years old; as old as the lady in Titanic as software goes!

If you’re running an iPhone 5s or later, you’ll simply need to ensure your phone is running iOS 11 or higher to install the latest Pulsara goodness.

For folks still rocking an iPhone 5/5c, the original iPad (1st to 4th generation), or the iPad mini first generation, you’ll need a newer device so you don’t miss out on our latest features.

If you have any questions or need support navigating these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Love,

Team Pulsara
