By using the Pulsara platform, Magnolia Regional Health Center is simplifying communications for emergency conditions between EMS and the critical care teams within the hospital.

When someone has a heart attack or stroke, it is critical that they receive treatment as soon as possible. Unfortunately, outdated systems of pagers, fax machines, emails, phone calls and proprietary equipment cause unnecessary roadblocks to efficient care, and can slow treatment times.

Magnolia Regional Health Center (MRHC) has partnered with local EMS providers in using a new smartphone technology to improve care for people suffering from these potentially deadly conditions. The hospital and EMS services have streamlined communication, enhancing patient safety and reducing the time it takes to get patients vital treatments, with simple mobile software.

Using Pulsara has helped MRHC reach and sustain its goal of increasing the quality of healthcare while reducing costs to both patients and the hospital. By improving communications, the platform reduces false positives and decreases the time to treatment, which translates to reduced length of stay and improved recovery. And that means hundreds of thousands of dollars saved for the hospital, and an improved quality of life for the patients.

“At the end of the day, we do everything we do because of our patients.” said James Woodson, CEO of Pulsara and emergency department physician. “So we are excited to finally be able to not only help those patients get the best outcomes with fewer complications, but also to save them a little money in the process.”
