At Pulsara, it's our privilege to help serve the people who serve people, and we're always excited to see what they're up to. From large-scale disaster simulations to real-life cardiac emergencies, Pulsara customers continue to be highlighted in the news for their role in improving communication, coordination, and patient outcomes. Here are a few recent highlights!
At McAllen International Airport in South Texas, Pulsara played a central role in a full-scale, FAA-required emergency drill simulating a commercial aircraft crash. The exercise involved 70 volunteer “patients” and first responders from 27 agencies, including fire departments, EMS, law enforcement, and three local hospitals. City officials praised Pulsara’s ability to provide real-time visibility into patient locations and injury severity, emphasizing the role it plays during mass incidents.
Using barcoded wristbands, responders tracked patients from triage at the scene through transport and hospital arrival, while hospitals used the shared data to prepare staff and resources in advance. The drill was considered a complete success, but officials emphasized that preparation is never finished and there is always room for improvement. It’s drills like these and technology like Pulsara that transform how communities prepare for the unexpected.

Further north in College Station, Texas, the College Station Fire Department incorporated Pulsara into a mass casualty training exercise designed to prepare crews for high-intensity, low-frequency events. Using a former Macy’s at Post Oak Mall, firefighters simulated a plane crash complete with debris, injured passengers, and complex family dynamics.
As part of the drill, responders used Pulsara to document injuries and track patients from the scene to the hospital, transmitting critical information early so receiving facilities could be ready. College Station Fire Chief Richard Mann described Pulsara as a “cutting-edge technology” that enhances both patient tracking and early hospital notification, reinforcing its value not just during real emergencies, but as a core tool in ongoing preparedness and training. While drills and simulations are essential, Pulsara’s impact was perhaps most powerfully illustrated in Central Ohio, where streamlined cardiac care is being credited with saving a man’s life. OhioHealth became the first health system in the state to fully implement Pulsara with EMS, partnering with the Norwich Township Fire Department and Upper Arlington Fire Division to improve heart attack response.
Just weeks after training, crews responded to a cardiac emergency involving Norwich local Adrian Lawrence. Using Pulsara, EMS teams alerted the hospital with a single tap and shared real-time patient data—even as Lawrence went into cardiac arrest during transport. Cardiologists communicated directly with crews and instructed them to bypass the emergency department and go straight to the cath lab. The result was a door-to-balloon time of just 58 minutes, well below the national average. Lawrence later credited the coordinated, technology-enabled response for saving his life.
