Overview
NEW Narrative / Notes Card
A new Narrative / Notes card gives teams a dedicated place to add more detailed patient information.
KEY FEATURES
Read Access: The information in this field is readable by anyone at any organization that is participating in the patient channel.
Edit Access: Only users from the organization that created a note can edit it.
Organization-Specific: Each organization involved in the patient's care can contribute their own narrative(s) to the channel.
Intended Content: This field is intended for details like medical history, radio report information, vitals, labs, patient condition, and other relevant notes. For faster entry, Voice-to-Text is the recommended method.
Alerting: You have the option to send an alert when a note is added or edited.
Custom Instructions: Organizations can create unique instructions, for each patient type, to guide what should be included based on their specific workflows.
UPDATED Chief Complaint Card
The Chief Complaint / Notes card has been renamed Chief Complaint and is now intended only for the patient’s brief primary concern, such as “abdominal pain,” “headache,” or “chest pain.”
The smaller text field makes it clear this is intended for a brief chief complaint only. -
Why (What's the Value?)
Improved Communication and Visibility:
-
Allows each organization to add a unique narrative to the channel.
-
Promotes transparency by making the narrative viewable by all, while restricting editing to members of the originating organization.
Clearer Patient Data Capture:
-
Separates Chief Complaint from the Narrative / Notes, ensuring each is captured distinctly.
-
Achieves better conformity to industry standards by reserving the Chief Complaint field solely for the primary reason the patient is seeking care.
Increased Flexibility for ePCR Vendors, Partners, and Users:
-
Narrative / Notes provides a location to include instructions to guide users what should be included based on their specific workflows.
-
ePCR vendors will have increased flexibility to import Chief Complaint and Narrative Notes into their respective fields within their applications, including the ability to import only the latest note or notes from a specific organization.
-
Offers greater flexibility for all integration partners to consume the specific data they require (e.g., Chief Complaint only, Narrative/Notes only, or both).
